About me

I’m Adam Dershewitz. I volunteer with the Oregon Mycological Society, where I lead identification hikes and teach an introductory mycology session for people getting started.

Field guides are great references, but they’re built for looking things up, not for practicing until identification becomes second nature. I built MycoFlash to give people a way to actively test themselves: genus first, then species, the way you’d actually work through an unfamiliar specimen.

The specimen set currently leans toward the Pacific Northwest, matching what I see most often on hikes here. More species, and eventually other regions, are on the way.

Corrections to a specimen, a species you would like added, or a bug: send it along and it reaches me directly.

So I can reply. Nothing else is done with it.
